Il fiume dalla sorgente alla foce

Il fiume è un corso d’acqua perenne che ha origine da una sorgente la quale può essere alimentata dall’acqua proveniente dallo scioglimento di un ghiacciaio o dalle piogge.

Il fiume di solito scorre in superficie, tuttavia possono anche esserci fiumi sotterranei. Dalla sorgente, situata per lo più in montagna, il fiume comincia la sua discesa all’interno di uno spazio delimitato chiamato alveo o letto fino a raggiungere la valle, una parte di territorio caratterizzata appunto da un corso d’acqua che ne determina anche l’erosione e, dunque, la morfologia.

Durante il suo tragitto, il fiume viene alimentato da diversi affluenti più piccoli fino a raggiungere il mare dove è situata la foce.
